Private chauffeur in Marseille: airport, Saint-Charles station and cruise port

Three arrival points account for most rides in Marseille: Marseille Provence airport, Saint-Charles station and the cruise terminals. Each has its pitfalls, and none of them is solved by jumping into the first car you see.

At a glance. Our core business is meeting travellers at airports and stations. In Marseille we work with selected local partners, held to our standards, with the price agreed before you set off. You book once, and you deal with one contact.

  • Marseille Provence airport, in Marignane, about 25 km from the city centre: two terminals a few minutes’ walk apart. Give us your flight number and the chauffeur tracks the landing.
  • Saint-Charles station: drop-off and booked cars are on level -1, underneath the station, on the Boulevard Bourdet side.
  • Cruises: the MPCT terminal at Môle Léon Gourret and the Joliette port (J4) are two separate sites. The wrong terminal means a missed pickup.
  • Aix-en-Provence and Cassis: the Aix TGV station is outside the town, and Cassis is hard to park in during summer. That is exactly where a car with a chauffeur earns its keep.
  • You get the price in the app, tolls included, before you book. For a full itinerary, a return trip or hourly hire, ask for a quote.

Marseille Provence airport: the flight sets the pace

The airport sits in Marignane, on the shore of the Étang de Berre, about 25 km from central Marseille and 26 km from Aix-en-Provence (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Tourism). It has two terminals: Terminal 1, with halls A and B, and Terminal 2 (formerly MP2), used by low-cost airlines. They are a few minutes apart on foot, but you still need to know where you land: a chauffeur waiting in the wrong hall wastes everyone’s time.

A smooth airport transfer comes down to four pieces of information:

  • Your flight number, so we can follow an early, late or diverted landing.
  • Your arrival terminal, shown on your ticket; we check it with you.
  • Waiting time: the chauffeur works to the actual landing time and waits until every passenger is out, luggage included.
  • The meeting point: the arrivals hall of your terminal, with a name board. It is confirmed along with the chauffeur’s contact details.

The price does not move when a flight is late. It only changes if you change the address or add a stop.

Saint-Charles station: you can’t hail a private hire car

The station sits high above the city, with its monumental staircase facing the centre. By car, everything happens underneath: drop-off and taxis are in the basement, on level -1, and booked cars wait in the “Bourdet” drop-off area (Marseille Tourist Office). Stops there are short, and the forecourt is not a place to wait.

Booking a chauffeur at Saint-Charles means settling two things in advance:

  • The train number and its actual arrival time: if a TGV runs late, the pickup moves with it, without you having to call.
  • The meeting point: on level -1 or on the platform, with a name board, depending on your platform and luggage. It is set when you book.

A private hire driver may only pick up a passenger who has booked: you cannot step off the train hoping to find a free car on the forecourt. Book, even shortly before.

The cruise port: two terminals, two logics

This is what travellers find out too late. Marseille does not have one cruise terminal but several, and they are not in the same place (Marseille Tourist Office):

  • Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal (MPCT), at Môle Léon Gourret: access is through Gate 4, at Cap Janet, in the 16th arrondissement. Most large ships berth here.
  • The Joliette port (J4), below the Major cathedral, next to the MuCEM: smaller ships and calls close to the centre.

There is no direct public transport link between the airport or Saint-Charles station and the cruise port (Marseille Tourist Office). A chauffeur looking for you at J4 while your ship is at Môle Léon Gourret will not find you.

  • Disembarkation: the chauffeur works to the time you actually leave the ship, not the scheduled time.
  • Embarkation: arrival for check-in opening, with the luggage you told us about. Two large cases each will not fit in a saloon boot: choose the van beforehand.
  • Port day: Aix, Cassis or the city centre, with a firm return time to the ship.

Give us the ship’s name and terminal when you book: we check them before confirming.

Aix-en-Provence and Cassis: beyond the city

Aix-en-Provence: the TGV station is outside the town

A classic trap. Aix-en-Provence TGV station stands on the Arbois plateau, along the RD 9 (Aix-en-Provence Tourist Office), around fifteen kilometres from the centre, and it has nothing to do with the small Aix centre station. A traveller stepping off the TGV with the address of a hotel on the Cours Mirabeau has no simple option.

A chauffeur solves this in one ride: pickup at the TGV station, drop-off at the exact address. The same goes for Marseille Provence airport, a meeting on a business park or a dinner in the Luberon. One way, a same-day return or hourly hire: just tell us the plan.

Cassis: the car stops, the chauffeur handles the rest

In season, Cassis takes some reaching. The Calanques National Park strongly advises against driving into the town centre and the Presqu’île car park in summer, and recommends the Gorguettes park-and-ride with its shuttle (Calanques National Park). A car with a chauffeur drops you as close as possible to the harbour or the agreed point, without twenty minutes of circling for a space, and comes back for you at the agreed time.

The price: known before you book

A private hire operator sets its prices freely and must tell you the total before you confirm; a taxi charges a regulated metered fare. With us, you know the price before you get in.

  • Tolls and fees included.
  • Nights, Sundays and public holidays: +10% for a pickup between 10 pm and 8 am, +10% on Sundays and public holidays; the two add up.
  • Waiting on arrival: flight or train tracked, then waiting until every passenger is out.
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup; after that, the ride is charged in full.
  • The vehicle: saloon, first-class saloon or van, depending on passengers and luggage.

The app shows the price of each journey. For a day out, a multi-stop programme or a group, ask for a quote: it lists each leg, and you receive it before you confirm.

In Marseille, we work with local partners

Let’s be clear: we do not run our own fleet in Marseille. We work there with selected local partners.

  • One contact: booking, changes and follow-up all go through us.
  • One price: the one you accepted, whichever partner drives.
  • The same checks: drivers hold their professional card, operators are listed on the private hire register.
  • Someone to call: if a car is late or not as booked, you call us and we deal with it.

If we cannot run a ride properly, we tell you before confirming rather than taking the booking.

Vehicles

The exact vehicle is confirmed when you book. What you can expect:

TypeForWhat matters
Saloon1 to 3 passengersTwo to three large cases in the boot, quiet cabin
VanFamilies, groups, cruise passengersLuggage space, child seats and boosters on request
First classVIP guests, executivesTop-end vehicle, discretion, hourly hire available

How to book

  • 1. Open the app and enter the pickup point: airport (with the flight number), Saint-Charles station, cruise terminal or an address.
  • 2. Enter the destination, date, time, number of passengers and bags. For a cruise, add the ship’s name and terminal.
  • 3. The price appears. For a full itinerary, a return trip or hourly hire, ask for a quote.
  • 4. Confirm and pay. You receive a confirmation by email, then a reminder the day before with the meeting point.
  • 5. On the day, there is nothing to chase: your flight or train is tracked.

A private hire car in Marseille does not pick up passengers in the street: booking in advance is compulsory and touting is forbidden (French Ministry of Ecological Transition). Book as soon as you have your ticket, especially on embarkation days.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private chauffeur in Marseille cost?

The price depends on the journey, the vehicle, the time and the day. The app shows it before you book, tolls included. For a full itinerary, a day out or a group, ask for a quote: you receive it before confirming, and nothing is added on the way unless you change the address or add a stop.

How does pickup work at Marseille Provence airport?

The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits for you in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name board, until every passenger is out. Terminal 1 or 2: it is on your ticket, and we check it with you.

Where does the chauffeur wait at Saint-Charles station?

Cars are picked up on level -1, beneath the station, on the Boulevard Bourdet side: the forecourt and the monumental staircase are not accessible by car. The exact meeting point, on level -1 or on the platform, is set when you book, depending on your platform and luggage.

Do you cover both cruise terminals?

Yes: the MPCT terminal at Môle Léon Gourret (Gate 4) and the Joliette port (J4). Give us the ship’s name, the terminal and the number of cases: we check the call before confirming and time the pickup to the ship’s actual operations.

Do you drive Marseille – Aix-en-Provence and Marseille – Cassis?

Yes, one way or as a same-day return. For Aix, tell us whether you mean the TGV station on the Arbois plateau or the town centre. For Cassis, we agree the drop-off point according to the season.

Can I get a private hire car on the spot, without booking?

No. A private hire car may only pick up a passenger who has booked. Book from your phone, even shortly before: the booking is what makes the ride legal.

What if my flight or train is late?

The chauffeur follows the actual arrival time and moves the pickup without you having to tell us. The price does not change.

Can I cancel?

Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup. After that, the ride is charged in full.

Is the Marseille service run by your own chauffeurs?

No, by selected and checked local partners. Booking, price and follow-up stay with us: one contact and one price.

Can I get an invoice for a company?

Yes, on request after the ride. For regular travel, the business account lets you book for your teams and guests and receive a monthly statement.
